Fruit Infused Water

by Jenelle on August 21, 2013

We all know how important it is to drink water.  With various parts of the body being made up of water (up to 60% for the body and 70% for the brain), it’s no wonder such a big deal is made about drinking water daily.  But, if you’re anything like me, drinking plain water can be kinda boring.  You might be tempted to add a little flavor to your water by using Crystal Light or another type of artificial flavor.  However, in order to get the greatest benefit, it’s best to drink water in its pure form.  So, how can we jazz up our water naturally, so that it tastes great and we’re making sure to meet our daily quota of water?

Fruit, that’s how!  Fresh fruit is great for adding natural flavor to water.  With so many fruits to choose from, the combinations are endless.  I’ll share with you some of my favorite combinations to use for fruit infused water.

Lemon Water Fruit Infused Water

This is one of the classics when it comes to fruit infused water.  Chances are, if you’ve gone out to a restaurant, you’ve had lemon water (unless, of course, you have a thing against lemons put in your water when you’re at a restaurant).  This is also one of the easiest fruit infusions to make, since you only need 2 ingredients!

Lemon water has some amazing benefits as well.  Here are 5 for you to consider:

  • Great source of vitamin C.
  • Helps to balance pH levels.
  • Assists with weight loss.
  • Improves digestion.
  • Helps to kick the coffee habit (if this is of interest to you).

So, those are some ideas to get you started drinking more water.  Do you already make fruit infused water?  What’s your favorite recipe?
